Hi,

Don't be shy and let's begin the chat ;)

Cheers ;)

I won't be shy then

Messagepar hantyghone » Jeu, 26 Juin 2008 09:59

Hey :)

Well I'm French and I'll be coming to Toronto on holidays with my parents and sister this summer.

This is partly a family re-union as I was in Montenegro for one year and I'll move to Toulouse (I'm from Bordeaux) next year ; but we don't wanna stay the 4 of us for one month and we'd reaaaally appreciate to meet (English-, French- or Spanish-speaking, or even Serbian(/Croatian, /Bosnian, /Montenegrian)-speaking as far as I'm concerned :P) people to get (a lil bit) into the TO way of life. My sister especially is worried about having to spend a month with no-one aged under 20 (I'm 20, and btw she's 16). What would you recommand? She's also stressed she'll have troubles speaking English (but I think she can manage, and she's pretty good at Spanish).

Thanx :)
Caroline.

Welcome ElenaY,

We usually stay on the first floor: just listen and you will easily find us.  ;)
The pub is "The Central" (603 Markham Street), by Bloor and Bathurst, a few steps from Bathurst station.

Thanks Alex,

It seems a great idea this topic.

So about my question: do you feel yourself well served in French when you are asking your cafe in Tim Horton or when you ask for something to the cashier in a supermarket, or when you call the phone operator for a problem in your monthly bill???

Do you feel that people served you as good as a professional should do when you speak French or do you feel obliged to talk in english so as to be served?

Thanks in advance.

There is no "French Speaking" in Toronto, so the question is solved :D

All the administrations provide a choice for the language, all the service providers (Bell, Rogers, etc.) provide also BUT that's all.
If you want to obtain something in a cafe or in a shop, there is only one rule: Speak English ! And I have no problem with that ;)
